Christmas Lights Trail

Christmas is just around the corner and one of my favourite times of the year. December is my favourite month as I love winters and what not to love about this month as everything lights up around us during Christmas. I love this month also because I was born in December! My kiddo loves when we put up Christmas tree and advent calendar (more to share on that on a separate blog).

As it was my birthday and we wanted to do something special, we decided to go to one of these light trails which are in fashion around these days. Believe me kids love them! Last year we had been to the Windsor – Illuminated show (already on my blog post) and this year we wanted to experience something different. So we got tickets to Wellington Country Park which is a beautiful park for kids but it is closed during winters and this year for the first time they transformed the park to a beautiful light trail.

You need to buy your tickets in advance, which comes either with a train ride or without a train ride depending on your personal preference. We bought tickets with the train ride as kids love the little steam engine train all lit up for Christmas. Please try to reach 10-15 mins before your booked time for the train ride as you will need sometime to park your car and walk up to the park entrance where they will scan your tickets and let you in.

Once you are in, you start your trail with first walking up to the train ride entrance, where you show your tickets and have a wonderful ride. The path of this train ride is amazing where you will see snowman, reindeers, elves and a real Santa waving at you and the kids. Once the ride is over, you get down and walk up to to meet Santa where you can tell Santa what you want for Christmas and get a chance to click pictures with him.

You can then walk through rest of the trail, where you will experience these beautiful and quite unique flashing boxes, shadow boxes, drums and an amazing Dinosaur trail towards the end. There is also a water light show (like a short 2 min movie) that you can stand and watch.

Overall, the experience was unique and quite fascinating to watch all that specially for our little one. The trail has smooth surface so you take a buggy if you need one. No bikes, scooters are allowed.

We had a nice time at this park and loved the train ride. It’s worth a visit during Christmas!

All information on this trail can be found on Wellington Country Park website below.
