Home Garden – Our Saviour in Lockdown

As mentioned in my previous blog on gardening – “Lockdown Tulips”, we had a wonderful first experience with gardening. During spring to summer season of 2020 we were spending a lot of time in our garden growing our own vegetables. We learnt a lot during the process thanks to youtube channels on growing veggies, to our surprise we were quite successful. During lockdown gardening was our saviour. I felt it very therapeutic. I get a sense of calmness and happiness whenever I am close to plants. Watching the butterflies and bees in our garden fluttering around flowers and me sitting there with my cuppa tea and watching my son running around to catch them. What else would one want in life than to treasure these beautiful moments?

We started with growing Spinach followed by baby potatoes, carrots, beetroots and tomatoes. We also tried our hands on herbs like mint and coriander. In fruits, we grew raspberries. Towards the end of summer we also tried growing cauliflower and runner beans. All were a success other than coriander and cauliflower. We were quite happy with the result and feeling confident that we will get better at this and have hopefully hundred percent results next summer. Below a few pictures from our summer garden. Hope you like them 🙂
