World Book Day

Honestly, I had no idea that there is a world book day until I had my son. After having him in our lives, we are always curious to know, what all can we do for him, to introduce him to all these new things which is a learning experience not only for him but for us too! I did some research on the history of world book day and to know why is it celebrated.

If you don’t know already, world book day was created by UNESCO on 23rd April 1995 to celebrate books and authors and to encourage youngsters to discover the pleasure of reading. I have always loved reading books and specially because it helps me to get much needed ME time these days. Who doesn’t love to cosy up after a busy day in the evening with a cuppa of their favourite tea and a book?

I always wanted my little one to be a book lover too like me and hubby. We all love reading books and can be happily called as a book lover family….(one of those family goals, hah!) I introduced books to my son when he was just 3 months old. He used to love those board books. We aim to read at least two to three books a day and he like non stop! Once he is done with one book, he will run and get another one. A few of his favourites are “The Gruffalo”, “I don’t want to be quite”, “Willbee, the Bumblebee” and “A bed of your own”.

As today was world book day we celebrated with reading lots of books from our home library and spent a lovely time together after work. Shlok was a happy bunny today surrounded with all his favourite books and getting all the extra cuddles and attention from his amma (mom) and dadda!

Below is a picture of a few of Shlok’s favourite books. Hope you guys had a lovely world book day celebration too!
